Big News at Queen of Threads

Hello everyone. Some huge news here at Queen of Threads. As I'm sure many of you will have already seen over on Facebook , we've made the decision to say goodbye to the High Street and close our shop after five great years. In the last year or so we've noticed a huge shift in our sales with over 70% of them now being made online. We've also taken on another business Diamond School of Performing Arts and so with our lease approaching its conclusion at the end of November it was time to bid farewell to 31 High Street.

It's by no means the end for Queen of Threads. We have already secured an office space to continue our online business from and you'll be seeing a huge increase in stock over at our website . We've also seen a huge increase in sales from Depop ( if you've not yet checked out this app, please do - it's awesome!) and so a lot of time will also be dedicated to our presence there.

I'm naturally sad to be leaving my shop - I've put a lot of heart and soul into it over the last five years, but it's the right thing to do and I'm really excited about the future. I hope you'll continue to shop with us online - here's to the future

Monday Funday

Morning everyone! I know Mondays are not probably up there at the top of most people's favourite lists, but I love them. Our weekends are an absolute blur of business - a lot of our new stock arrives on a Friday evening and so Saturday and Sunday are spent getting everything priced, photographed and out on the rails for all our weekend trade. I love walking into my little boutique after the weekend and seeing all the gorgeous new items out on the rails ready for the week ahead. And hopefully my first hour at work will be spent collecting all our online orders and reserves and putting them by for post or collection. The website went crazy last night with orders so I will definitely be busy with that later.

Over 100 new items arrived with us this weekend - the usual fab mixture of vintage, high street, designer and homewares. I'm in love with this Fortnum and Mason hamper which is perfect for home decor ( they make great storage baskets ) or for a posh picnic

Fortnum and Mason Picnic Hamper - £25

And how cute is this? Its a lunch bag from Paperchase - this would be so cute to take to work or school. I absolutely love the woodland animal design. Its brand new and is an absolute steal at just £8

I was uber excited when this Tara Starlet dress came in as I really love 1940s fashion. This navy tea dress is great for day or night. I really like the detailed collar and flare of the skirt. Its in great condition and at only £30 is a real bargain

We've have lots of Cath Kidston in recently, which is great as it is hugely popular with you guys! This little beaut came to us yesterday - its so cute and I would use it as a pencil case but it would serve equally well as a make up or toiletries bag. Its only £6 and is in great condition

There is so much more in store and online at www.queenofthreads.co.uk so do head in to the shop or over to the website for a browse. I'd better get out of my pyjamas and into work! Have a great Monday everyone and I'll be back with you again soon

Hey hey! Busy week at Queen of Theeads. I've been sprucing up our website www.queenofthreads.co.uk and social media accounts. Hopefully things are a bit more streamlined now and user friendly now. Make sure you have a peek and let me know what you think.

Some beaut new stock came in over the weekend
This cute Topshop hat is just £8 and instantly lifts an outfit
I have a bit of a love affair with lace and I just adore this vintage shirt. It's only £12 and as with all our other pieces, is available in store or online at www.queenofthreads.co.uk
We also have this gorgeous Zara bag - if you like it, grab it quick before I keep it for myself!

Have a great day xx

Back to Blog

Hello everyone. Its been quite a while ( er, yes, almost a year!) since my last post. However, one my my New Year's resolutions was to write more so the blog is a good place to start.

Queen of Threads is now 3 years and 3 months old - how did that happen?! The time really has flown and we now feel like a really established business and definitely part of the Newport Pagnell high street - we're here to stay! We've added a few more bits and pieces to the shop layout - we now have a New In rail so that regulars can head straight for our new stock and see what's arrived since their last visit. This seems to be getting the thumbs up - I'm looking forward to adding more and more to it.

We have some lovely bits and pieces in just now; as the weather is soooo cold, I'm all about the coats and chunky jumpers this week

Primark Pink Biker Coat - £12  BUY

Per Una Hooded Parka Coat - M - £15 BUY

River Island Soft Cream Frill Jumper - 10 - £10 BUY

Chelsea Girl Lace Front Jumper - 8 - £8 BUY

All of these beauts are available to buy from the shop and of course from our website where you can buy online.

Its good to be back blogging and I PROMISE I will post regularly this year. Hope to see lots of you popping in throughout the week and of course its always great to hear from you on our Facebook and Twitter pages. Have a great day and I will speak to you all again very soon

Brighten Up

Hey everybody. Its been a pretty miserable January right? It seems like it hasn't stopped raining for about a thousand years and everything is just grey. But I woke up early this morning and looked out of the window to this beautiful view

and immediately felt a bit of a spring in my step. So, I thought I'd brighten everyone's day with some of our most colourful pieces.

First up is this gorgeous coat. It's a vintage 80s item but it's so on trend. In a deep, fuchsia pink - it will instantly cheer up an outfit. It's a 14/16 and is £30

Ok, so these are BRIGHT! Mega platform heels in a soft fur feel fabric. Awesome tangerine orange - these will definitely get you noticed. They're a Size 6 and are only £10. You can buy these from the shop or at www.queenofthreads.co.uk

This is from River Island's Chelsea Girl range. Chelsea Girl was a popular label from the 60s to 80s and RI have revived it with retro inspired styles. This metallic gold dress is a Size 12 and is just £6. Bargain!

Are you planning on adding a splash of colour into your wardrobe this Spring? Pop into the shop for a browse or take a look at our items online at www.queenofthreads.co.uk

Have a fabulous Friday ❤

Pretty Vintage Dresses

Hello again. Just had to write a quick post to share with you the BEAUTIFUL vintage dresses that came in yesterday. Firstly is this

Laura Ashley - Size 12

wonderful Laura Ashley Dress. Its a 1980s item but in a 50s style and its just so pretty. Laura Ashley were famous for their romantic floral and have made a comeback in recent years especially in the interior design field. This epitomises what they were about in the eighties. I'll probably sell this online as there are quite a few collectors but if you are interested, comment here or on Facebook and I'll give you a bit more info.

Secondly I found this original 1950s dress

and I'm so sad that its not my size as it would have been perfect for all my Spring and Summer special occasions. Alas, it is a 14 so I shall have to send it off to live with someone else! Its so pretty and the primrose yellow is just really...happy, if that makes sense! I'd team this with a pair of nude heels and wear for a wedding or christening. Like the Laura Ashley dress above, this will probably be destined for an online sale but just let me know if it something you'd like more info on.

I never tire of finding pretty things for the shop and I love it when I come up with little gems like these.

Speak to you soon
